Dorval Estate Petit Verdot

Each of Andrew K's vineyard blocks are regenerative and organically farmed and is in the process of becoming certified. A sustainable future and preserving our land is our first priority. As first generation farmers we take stewardship of our land very serious. We have studied and experimented for over a decade with our approach. Not only will our vineyards benefit for many  generations but so will our wine and story.

Every bottle begins with an unwavering commitment to deep personal passion, land preservation, grit, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Founded and led by viticulturist Andrew Kerr, our vineyards and wine are built on the belief that exceptional wines are born from exceptional sites and integrity  and passion. Across three distinct vineyard sites in the California Sierra Foothills, ranging from 650 to 1,350 feet in elevation, the vineyards have all been hand planted by Andrew over nearly a decade with natures influence. Our vineyards are planted in a combination of decomposed granite, quartz, volcanic clay, and flint-rich soils. These rugged, mineral-driven landscapes, coupled with significant elevation changes and mountain influences, create ideal growing conditions for producing wines of remarkable depth, structure, and character. Through thoughtful site selection, regenerative farming practices, and an uncompromising dedication to quality, Andrew K captures the essence of the Sierra Foothills AVA in every vintage, crafting wines that reflect both the resilience of the land and the vision behind it.

Unmatched Grit, Soils and Passion

Dorval wines are made from our multi-ranch regenerative organically farmed estate vineyards.

We are first generation farmers, not owned by big bulk wine industry.

For Andrew Kerr, Organic Viticulture is never about chasing trends, maximizing production, or building another commercial wine brand. It began with a simple conviction: land preserving and deep love for natural viticulture.

As a first-generation farmer, Andrew purchased bare land nearly ten years ago and  thoughtfully planted and designed vineyard to the terrain slope alongside natural resources and terrain to benefit from what nature offers while adding to the natural habitats. This co-existence is the ultimate pursuit of regenerative viticulture.

Rather than viewing land as a commodity to be developed, subdivided, or monetized, he saw an opportunity to create something enduring—a living agricultural estate with purpose that would honor the landscape, protect its natural beauty, and produce wines of genuine character.

In an era when farmland across California continues to disappear beneath expanding development and institutional ownership, Andrew remains a passionate advocate for preserving working agricultural landscapes. He believes vineyards and farms are more than businesses—they are part of a region's heritage, they create jobs, uphold cultural heritage, and environmental future.

That philosophy extends into every bottle produced at Andrew K Estate. Rather than pursuing fleeting market trends or mass-market wine styles, Andrew has focused on cultivating classic Bordeaux and heritage varieties, crafting wines that express place, authenticity, and longevity. His approach favors patience over shortcuts, quality over volume, and legacy over fashion.

Andrew K - a vision that great wine begins with healthy soils, responsible farming, and a deep respect for the land itself. For Andrew Kerr, preserving open space, protecting agricultural traditions, and creating something meaningful for future generations is not simply part of the business—it is the purpose behind it.

Andrew K encompasses three distinct vineyard estates, all located within a five-mile radius in the heart of California's Sierra Foothills. Spanning more than 200 acres collectively, with individual ranches ranging from 40 to 126 acres, the vineyards rise from 650 to 1,350 feet in elevation and are rooted in a complex mosaic of volcanic flint, quartz, decomposed granite, clay, and loam soils. Positioned within the path of the renowned Mono winds, every vineyard block has been meticulously designed by founder and viticulturist Andrew Kerr, matching soil composition, sun exposure, slope orientation, wind influence, rootstock, and clone selection to maximize site expression. Andrew K's diverse plantings include six Cabernet Sauvignon clones alongside Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah, Charbono, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, and Viognier.

Every vineyard block is planted to the terrain in small blocks. Every vine is farmed, observed and worked by hand year round and every varietal is planted in a head trained / Gobelet, Echala or single cane Guyot which reduces disease pressure, reduces water use and enhances our ability to create a balanced microclimate around each vine instead of just each block. A laborious approach but one that emphasizes our desire for premium quality not premium efficiency.
